JOB DESCRIPTION FOR A PERSONAL ASSISTANTAims and purpose of role The purpose of this role is to provide support to an elderly gentleman in the Llanbedr area. The gentleman requires support to enable him to live independently in his own home and will complement traditional daily home care as provided by the Social Services team. He will require support in structuring his day to manage daily living skills as well as assistance with those daily living skills. Daily living skills include Laundry, cooking, cleaning, admin (correspondence, and clerical organization of filing) as well accompanying to appointments , shopping and any other appropriate activities as identified by the gentleman. Hours of Work 17 Hours per week afternoons and early evenings. Will consider splitting the hours to take on two personal assistants. Hours can be flexible to suit both the client and staffRate of Pay £11an hour plus fuel allowance when accompanying gentleman to appointments and shopping LocationLlanbedr Area DUTIESto include any or all of the following: (to be flexible to reflect current COVID -19 restrictions ) • Assist with general day to day living activities – laundry, cleaning, occasional cooking etc• Sound basic admin and clerical duties –keep appointments diary and assist with dealing with correspondence and household accounts (including reminding client to pay household bills and filing away once paid) .• Assisting the gentleman in the use of the PC including email and word processing. • Setting up weekly/daily structure that is both manageable and achievable. • Accompany to appointments and shopping when required.• Accompanying, encouraging and taking part in social activities in the community as identified by the gentleman and his family.• Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed.• Undertake any further training, as mutually agreed.Personal Specification • Establish a professional standard of care which should be maintained at all times.• Undertake the role with due regard to the client’s medical, physical, social, educational and recreational needs.• Respect and safeguard the goods and property of the family.• Respect the privacy of the family and uphold confidentiality at all times.• Be punctual, reliable and have some degree of flexibility.• Be enthusiastic and be open to new experiences.• Bear in mind that the role is one of empowerment for the service user.• Know the vulnerability and act in the interests of the client to protect him and act in good faith.• Must hold a valid driving license and use own vehicle for work
