About the Role: Mental Health Care (MHC) have an exciting opportunity to employ on a full time basis a Speech and Language Therapist/Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join MHC. The head office in Llangwyfan, Denbighshire, however work over the varied Health and Social care sites will be required.
HCPC and RCSLT registration are essential for this post. Training in dysphagia would be advantageous. The applicant must have a minimum of between 12-18 months of work experience.
The successful individual would be responsible for delivering a Speech & Language Therapy service for adults with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Issues and Autism
The post holder will have substantial, proven experience as a Speech and Language Therapist using skills appropriate/transferrable to an adult learning disability/mental health client group. You will provide specialist communication assessments, interventions and advice to individuals.
You will be responsible for education, training, support and advice to Speech and language therapy assistants, colleagues and carers to enable them to deliver the best possible outcomes to enhance quality of life. You will be confident to lead on the implementation of a Total Communication approach.
The post will require you to demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice outcome measures. This will also involve sharing of any recommendations/interventions with the staff teams and Managers . The successful candidate will possess well developed negotiation skills, together with the ability to monitor and evaluate their own specialist service delivery.
You will be a reflective practitioner who works well in a team and has good time management, organisation and communication skills.
The ideal candidate will be pro-active with an optimistic attitude and demonstrate positivity and motivation in their work. You must be able to demonstrate how you can work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including regulators and commissioners.
We will provide the opportunity to further develop your clinical skills through “in house training programmes” and externally funded courses and development opportunities as may be required for your work in MHC.
