We currently have a great opportunity for a part time senior occupational therapist to join our adult mental health service.The post holder will be a senior member of the Assertive Outreach Team based in Blackwood, Caerphilly and will be responsible for the care coordination of a caseload of service users who are experiencing severe mental health difficulties and will have additional complex care needs. The post holder will work closely alongside other staff members within the team, where the ethos of the team is to work within a ‘whole team’ approach. They will work collaboratively across the wide ranging multi-disciplinary services and agencies to provide effective delivery of health and social care, supporting a programme of recovery and social inclusion within this area of expertise.The post holder will be expected to develop close working relationships with the other aspects of the service both within the community and the inpatient unit, as well as developing a broad knowledge of the resources available across the borough. The post holder will be expected to support the team leader to achieve organisational targets and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience of working with adults with complex mental health needs is essential. The post holder will have a commitment to providing person centred care and will, through their actions, at all times demonstrate a strong value base and a willingness to embrace change. The AOT service operates between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., seven days a week. Therefore some weekend working (on a rota basis) will be required. This will equate to approximately 2 weekends out of every 8.Occupational therapy is a highly valued service within ABUHB and we are strongly committed to service development, standard setting, clinical effectiveness and lifelong learning. The occupational therapy service within adult mental health is implementing the Model of Human Occupation across the service, and has embedded Recovery Through Activity as a core intervention across in-patient and community services.Post holders will be supported by a wider network and professional structure of occupational therapists across adult mental health within the health board and there are regular practice forums and workshop opportunities to shape and drive occupational therapy practice. A wide variety of specialist training opportunities are available in the health board and the occupational therapy service is committed to student education and practice development in order to ensure best practice standards to support our service users.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Closing date: 25th February 2021This advert closes on Thursday 25 Feb 2021
