We are looking for passionate and caring individuals to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Moving On and Independent Living services in Abergavenny. This is a fully flexible, relief position. This is an exciting opportunity as no 2 days are the same! Some of these services needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends and sleep in shifts. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with sleeps ins as extra. **Due to the needs of the individuals we support in these services, a full UK manual driving licence and access to your own car is required.**

Our team supports vulnerable adults within a supported living environment consisting of 5 flats, with their own bathrooms and shared communal areas, which acts as a step towards independent living. We provide the support to maximise the independence of our service users, who may have varying needs such as mental health issues or learning disabilities. Our team works to encourage the people we support to manage their accommodation, relationships and inclusion within the community. The individuals we support have different personalities with different likes and hobbies like going to play pool, swimming, walking, cooking and shopping. By being part of this team, you would play an influential role in enabling the people we support to lead fulfilling and independent lives and see first-hand how you make a difference to them. You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including: • Medication administration • Cooking skills and other household skills • Some personal care needs • Accessing the community and supporting to local groups • Supporting with individuals’ hobbies and activities such as walking/hiking • Being a team player and having good communication skills • Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard • Supporting individuals to budget finances • Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing • Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence • Take the people we support out and about therefore a full manual driving licence is essential for this role • Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties • Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working • Supporting Individuals with their individual needs What skills and experience do you need? A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.
