About the jobAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed individual to join our Social Services Training and Development Team as a Training Officer - Professional Development. This role is pivotal in contributing to employee development in accordance with the principles of the Social Care Wales Workforce Development Programme. The successful candidate will support the delivery of quality student social worker practice-based learning opportunities to meet Local Authority hosting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as an Assessor for social work students and social workers undertaking post-qualifying awards.
• Oversee access to Continuing Professional Education and Learning (CPEL) programmes for social work employees.
• Plan, commission, and support independent practice-based assessment in line with the Council's procurement rules.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of professional development programmes and student/candidate assessment arrangements.
• Collaborate with Partner HEI programmes to support the management and delivery of social work qualifying and post-qualifying programmes.
• Support the implementation of the Local Authority's model of support for Social Workers within the first three years of practice.• Coordinate, allocate, monitor, and evaluate social care work placements.
• Deputise for the Training Manager in relevant regional workforce development forums.
• Support the development and delivery of the First Three Years in Practice programme, including quality assurance processes and annual reviews.
• Stay updated with developments in Professional Development by attending relevant courses and meetings.
• Research new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and present findings.
• Prepare reports, attend and chair meetings, and contribute to Welsh Government/Social Care Wales reports and returns.
What We Are Looking For From YouWe are looking for someone who:
• Holds a Social Work Qualification and is registered with Social Care Wales.
• Has a proven track record of working positively with a range of partner organisations.
• Demonstrates post-qualifying experience working as a social worker within a statutory social care setting.
• Understands Social Care Wales Rules and Requirements for Social Work Education in Wales.
• Is committed to the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy and improving outcomes for children and adults in need of care and support.
• The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.
