I’m a 37-year-old lady who sustained a brain injury following an accident whilst serving in the RAF. I have recently relocated to the Porthcawl area where I will have my own property. I wish to live independently, with the support of a Team Leader, a team of Rehabilitation Workers and my parents who live nearby.
I use a wheelchair and together with my physiotherapist, I am working on my strength to assist my mobility further. I am a very determined lady and looking for likeminded people to aid my rehabilitation further. I enjoy the company of others and have a good sense of humour. I like to go out into the community to visit the cinema and go shopping. Most importantly, I would like to have support with cooking, managing my house etc, to assist me living independently, as well as supporting me to explore sports/rehab/activities in the area.
I have some physical difficulties and currently receive input from an occupational therapist, speech and language therapist and a physiotherapist. I can communicate verbally providing you give me the time I need to express myself. I would like my rehab workers to be warm, patient and reliable, to encourage and support me to access all opportunities along with completing therapy tasks as prescribed by her therapist team. Thus, helping me to maximise my quality of life.
You will play a key part in helping to develop my day-to-day activities. There may be occasions where you need to work at short notice to cover sickness absence or annual leave of other workers. You may also need to support me to have short breaks and holidays.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION To join me as a Support Worker you will need to: - • Be able to drive and have use of a car. • Drive the family vehicle. • Have experience of supporting a person with a brain injury. • Enjoy working as part of a team.
Also, Top Reasons to Apply: - • Above the industry average for pay • Mileage rate – 45p per mile • Work directly for our client and not an agency (unlike most agency work you will spend quality time with your client which can make a real difference) • Great opportunity for professional development • Be part of an expert multi-disciplinary team • Bespoke client induction and training • Ongoing support and supervision from the dedicated Case Manager
This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check. Full induction and training will be provided.
