We have an exciting opportunity for passionate and caring people to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living service in Ammanford. We have an 18 & 24 hour part time permanent positions available. This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends and sleep in shifts as part of a rolling rota. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with sleeps ins as extra. Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service, a full UK manual driving licence is required. Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service the post holder for this role is required to be female.

What is the role?
This service is the home of 6 individuals aged between 22 and 70 with learning disabilities. You will be working with them to support with day to day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support
The service promotes the importance of the “do with and not do for” approach and has had a very positive impact on these incredible individuals.
The individuals we support have a variety of personalities, are social and enjoy days out. By being part of this team, you would play an influential role in enabling the people we support to lead fulfilling and independent lives and see first-hand how you make a difference to them.

You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:
Medication administration Cooking skills and other household skills Some personal care needs. Accessing the community and supporting to local groups Supporting with individuals’ hobbies and activities. Being a team player and having good communication skills Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard Supporting individuals to budget finances Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing. Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence. Take the people we support out and about, therefore a full manual driving licence is essential for this role. Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working. Supporting Individuals with their individual needs It is important you are committed and able to commit to the shift patterns in this service.
What skills and experience do you need?
A background of working with people with learning, physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;
