Overall job purpose The Resilient Families Team aims to: • Work intensively with families to keep their children out of care. • Work intensively with families for reunification within 8 weeks of the child becoming cared for. • Work intensively with identified families for the reunification of their children who are currently in care and for whom a return home has been identified as a long term permanency plan.
The Team consists of professionals with the skills and experience of working directly with children who receive care and support, and with parents and adults with complex health and social care needs. The team works proactively and intensively with families to manage risk and respond calmly to crises through innovative ways, provide practical support and therapeutic skills, strengthen resilience and parenting capacity, and reduce risk within families to bring about improved outcomes for children and young people.
The post holder will work as a team member providing timely, flexible, practical and evidence-based/informed interventions to children/young people and families: • Where there is a risk of the child/young person coming into care • To return children/young people home from care, where safe and practical, within an 8 week period. • To enable children that have been in care for a significant period of time to return home safely.
The post holder will work with parents/carers/children/young people to build on families' strengths. By empowering families they will seek to equip them to make informed decisions and take responsibility for their own lives. The post holder will be required to work closely with a vast range of agencies, families, and professionals.
The post holder will work on a 1:1 basis or in a group situation with children, young people and / or their families. They will work in a range of settings e.g schools, homes, and local community.
The post holder will have good, sound knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and following procedures and protocols to ensure that children's safety is paramount.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to a growing team as the process of intensive intervention is embedded into local delivery.
